Where Guestbooker Comes In

If you have been following my posts, by now you should have a basic understanding of the TV newsroom hierarchy and how these players come together to produce 24/7 news coverage and keep people informed about what is going on in the world around them.

You might be thinking- how does Guestbooker fit into the mix? Remember when I discussed how bookers have to find guests for every segment? Their job is already extremely stressful and fast paced and they don’t have the time to thoroughly search for the best guests. This is exactly what Guestbooker does. They are a team of 18 bookers who meet, vet, and train potential guests for TV shows. They are more valuable and successful than bookers in the newsroom because they are able to solely focus on this job, move quickly, and have a tremendous list of a variety of clients and contacts. In the following blog posts, I will share what I have learned through my internship with Guestbooker and the steps they take to effectively book guests on television shows.

This process revolves around client relations and attentiveness. I will first talk you through some of the strategies they use to attract and attain such a large client base. I will discuss their key marketing techniques used not only to market their services to clients, but to also market their clients to top news stations such as NBC, CNN, Fox, ABC, and more. I will discuss some of the tactics they use to keep their team of 18 bookers functioning efficiently and aligned to their common goal. Lastly, I will get into some of the logistics of training clients for their television debut and booking them on these shows. Hopefully you’ll find this interesting and keep following my blog! I have learned a tremendous amount through this internship and am looking forward to sharing it with you!
